Police make multiple arrests for impaired driving

A single-vehicle crash in Harwich led to impaired driving for a local man.

Chatham-Kent police were called to the area of Pinehurst Line on Saturday night. Following an investigation, officers determined that the driver of the involved vehicle was intoxicated.

A 52-year-old man was charged with having a blood alcohol level over the legal limit.

He was released from police custody with a May 13 court date.

Early Sunday morning, a CK police officer on general patrol in Tilbury made an impaired driving arrest.

According to police, the officer made a traffic stop in the area of Queens Line. During the stop, it was determined that the 33-year-old driver was under the influence of alcohol.

The St. Thomas man was taken to police headquarters for further testing. He was later released with a future court date.

Altercation leads to weapons charges

A 21-year-old man is facing multiple charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Early Sunday morning, officers were called to the area of King Street West for an altercation involving a knife.

Police said that the suspect fled the scene before they arrived, but that he was arrested shortly afterward.

In addition to his weapons charge, the man faces charges of obstructing a peace officer and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Man arrested after continually violating release conditions

A man has been charged for failing to comply with a release order for the fifth time.

On Saturday night, police were called to a Chatham address for a domestic dispute.

When officers arrived at the Taylor Avenue residence it was found that the man involved in the dispute was violating release conditions regarding the woman he was fighting with. Police said that the man also broke a camera on the property, resulting in a charge of mischief under $5,000.

The man was transported to police headquarters where he was held pending a bail hearing.

Wanted man arrested in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police arrested a 37-year-old man on the strength of a warrant on Saturday afternoon.

Police said that an officer on patrol near Wellington Street East located a man who was wanted for violating a probation order.

The man was arrested, taken to police headquarters, and eventually released with a future court date.
