Man wanted for aggravated assault shows up at courthouse

A 25-year-old man who has been wanted on an assault charge since September of last year is finally in custody.

Chatham-Kent police said the man showed up at the Ontario Court of Justice on Grand Avenue West in Chatham shortly before 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Officers were able to confirm that he was wanted in an assault investigation from September 2023.

He was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.

He is currently charged with aggravated assault.

Man banned from driving arrested after crash in Chatham

A 42-year-old Chatham man who wasn't supposed to be driving is facing three charges after he allegedly crashed a vehicle in Chatham early Friday morning.

Police said they were called to the scene on Sass Road just after 5 a.m. Friday and learned that one of the man's release conditions was that he wasn't supposed to be in the driver's seat of a vehicle.

The man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a release order, driving while disqualified, and careless driving.

He was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Two-vehicle crash in Chatham sends three to hospital

Chatham-Kent police have charged a driver who was involved in a collision at Keil Drive South and Richmond Street in Chatham Thursday morning.

Police said they received a call about a two-vehicle collision at that intersection shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday, adding that both of the vehicles involved were towed from the scene.

Both of the drivers and one passenger were taken to the hospital with injuries ranging from "minor" to "moderate".

One of the drivers was charged as a result of the investigation.
