Man Arrested for Assault

A 51-year-old Chatham man has turned himself in after an assault in Blenheim on Friday.

Chatham-Kent police noted the suspect went to headquarters, was arrested, and was charged with assault.

Police discovered an argument took place between a man and woman, it escalated and the man allegedly assaulted the woman.

According to police, they contacted the man and he agreed to turn himself in to police.

He was released with conditions and a future court date of May 6, 2024.

Woman Arrested for Mischief

Charges of uttering threats and mischief have been laid against an 18-year-old woman from Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police reported they went to an address on Sheldon Avenue in Chatham for a disturbance late Saturday night and learned a verbal argument between two women escalated when the suspect allegedly threatened the other woman and kicked her vehicle, causing damage.

The suspect was arrested on Sunday afternoon on St. Anthony Street in Chatham.

She was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of May 3, 2024.

Man Arrested for Impaired Driving

A 26-year-old Chatham man has been charged with impaired driving after Chatham-Kent police stopped a vehicle on King Street West in Chatham.

Police said the officer conducted the traffic stop at 5:30 a.m. Sunday and believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The man was arrested and then transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

According to police, the man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released with conditions and a future court date of April 22, 2024.

Several Arrests for Probation & Bail Violations, Skipping Court

Three men and a woman have been arrested for various violations.

Police in Chatham-Kent said a 39-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested on Wellington Street in Chatham because he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for probation violations.

He was released with a future court date of April 29, 2024.

A man and a woman from Wallaceburg were also arrested after police responded to a domestic dispute on Westcourt Boulevard in Wallaceburg.

Police said a verbal argument occurred between the man and the woman.

Investigators noted the man was bound by a release order and a probation order not to associate with the woman, even though she allegedly invited him to the residence.

The 40-year-old of Wallaceburg man was charged with two counts of failing to comply with a probation order and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.

He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

The 27-year-old Wallaceburg woman was charged with facilitating a breach of an undertaking.

She was released with a future court date of May 6, 2024.

Police also arrested a man for failing to attend court after he turned himself in to police.

According to police, the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court related to a March 2023 assault investigation in Chatham.

The 30-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released with a future court date of April 29, 2024.
