Award ceremony to celebrate local volunteer 'Heroes' in CK

Those who make a difference throughout Chatham-Kent will be celebrated with a special event later this month.

The municipality has teamed up with CN Railway again for the second annual community recognition awards program, which will celebrate the contributions local residents have made throughout the region.

"Volunteers are the heartbeat of our community, and their contributions are invaluable. The Community Recognition Awards provide a platform to acknowledge and celebrate their tireless efforts," said Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff in a statement Tuesday.

Last year's recipients were nominated by municipal councillors across Chatham-Kent, but this year, community members were able to submit names of people they felt should be recognized.

The awards ceremony is set for April 24th and will include livestream in honouring these individuals.
