What's open and closed Easter weekend in Chatham-Kent

The Easter long weekend has arrived in Chatham-Kent and depending where you work, you may have Monday off.

Although Good Friday is a stat holiday, others also observe Easter Monday as a holiday.

All federal, provincial, and municipal offices will be closed on both days. There will also be no Canada Post delivery.

Residents who usually have garbage or recycling pick-up on Friday will instead get the curbside collection on Saturday, however, there will be no collection changes for the week of April 1.

All transfer stations and yard depots will be closed for Good Friday.

Residents will want to ensure they have a way of getting around as CK Transit will not be operating on Friday.

All arenas will be closed on Good Friday. The Blenheim Arena will be open for scheduled rentals on Sunday, March 31. The Thames Campus, Tilbury, and Ken Houston Memorial Arenas will be open on Monday.

All branches of the Chatham-Kent Public Library will be closed on Friday and Monday. Branches normally open on Saturdays will remain open. All municipal arts and culture venues will also be closed on Friday and Monday.

Riverview Gardens will also be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Entegrus and the Public Utilities Commission will be closed on Friday and Monday. The emergency call number is 519-352-6300.

At the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, several health care services will be altered on both Good Friday and  Easter Monday.

Ambulatory care services, outpatient rehabilitation services, pre-surgical screening services, the diabetes education centre, the TIA and CAD clinics, pulmonary function lab, outpatient lab services, health records and patient appointment offices will be closed on Friday and Monday as well as Elston Pharmacy at the Chatham site and the business and cashier’s office.

As per usual, emergency services and emergency rooms at areas hospitals will remain open 24 hours daily.
