A customer complaint has sparked a recall of a brand of mushrooms.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled K-Fresh Enoki Mushrooms due to potential Listeria contamination.
The mushrooms, in a 200-gram package, were distributed to Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia, with the possibility of other provinces and territories.
There have been no reports of illness caused by consuming the mushrooms, but the CFIA said Listeria may bring serious health risks.
"Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness," read the recall notice. "Pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth. In severe cases of illness, people may die."
