Chatham-Kent police are now calling a suspicious death in Erie Beach a murder.
Police have also identified the victim as Michael Allard, 40, of Windsor.
"After thorough examination, the suspicious death investigation is now being treated as a homicide," said police in a statement issued on Thursday afternoon.
On Wednesday morning, police reported they were called to an address on Towanda Boulevard at 12:42 a.m. on Tuesday for a report of someone needing emergency services.
The initial report to police indicated that the individual had been shot by a gun and officers secured the scene to ensure there was no threat to public safety.
Police emphasized again on Thursday that this is considered an isolated incident with no concern for public safety, adding that no arrests have been made.
The investigation continues.
