Public school board appoints student trustees

New student trustees have been named to the Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB).

During its board meeting on Tuesday, the public school board approved the election of three students for the 2024-2025 school year.

Wallaceburg District Secondary School student Makaiyah Stonefish was reelected to the position of Chatham-Kent Student Trustee.

Northern Collegiate Institute & Vocational School student Elias Ko was acclaimed the position of Sarnia-Lambton Student Trustee and Brynn Williams of Wallaceburg District Secondary School was elected as the Indigenous Student Trustee.

"We are excited to welcome Brynn and Ellias, and re-welcome Makaiyah to the Board as Student Trustees,” said LKDSB Chair Randy Campbell in a news release. “It is important that our board is inclusive of the student voice, and to ensure that the conversations we have and decisions we make are done so with that vital representation around the table.”

Student Trustees attend all board meetings and can introduce agenda items as per the board’s procedural bylaws.
