Community input meetings will be held on Walpole Island First Nation to gather feedback and develop an action plan in an effort to address the "war on drugs."
The first scheduled meeting will take place on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Walpole Island Sports Complex (in the back hall). Another meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, February 28.
A community update was posted last week on the council's Facebook page to remind residents of the current situations still in place, including the Drug State of Emergency issued in July 2021.
"As a community, it is important that we stay strong and vigilant during these times. If you have information regarding illegal drug activity in the community, please contact the police," read the social media post from Walpole Island First Nation Council.
Blackburn Media reached out to Walpole Island's chief with an interview request but did not receive a response.
