Registration open for 2024 Hike for Hospice

The Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation is inviting everyone to lace up their shoes for the 8th annual Hike for Hospice.

Registration officially opened on Wednesday for the event which will take place on Sunday, May 5 at Mud Creek Trail in Chatham.

"Hike for Hospice is a wonderful way for people to remember and honour their loved ones in a thoughtful and practical way," said Ginny Hawken the Co-chair of Hike for Hospice. "It's amazing to see the many families that have made Hike an annual tradition and come out to support Hospice year after year."

Registration is free. Participants can choose to buy a commemorative t-shirt, tie-dyed sunglasses, or personalized memorial signs featuring the name and picture of a loved one who has passed. Those signs will be set up along Mud Creek Trail starting on April 29 and will be available for the purchaser to take home after the hike finishes.

Pledges will be gathered right before participants hit the trail, with this year's fundraising goal of $140,000. All money raised will be used to support end-of-life Hospice care in Chatham-Kent.

On event day, there will be pre-hike activities that start at noon including live music, memorial activities, lawn games, kid's activities, and a picnic, for which people are encouraged to bring their own food.

This year's event is presented by Battery Boy and supported by Kent & Essex Mutual Insurance, Fairway Wealth Management at National Bank Financial, Rondeau Capital Inc., and others.
