Five people from across southwestern Ontario are facing drug trafficking charges following the seizure of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, and ammunition on Walpole Island First Nation.
Lambton OPP and Walpole Island police arrested the accused on February 15 during several traffic stops.
OPP said the investigations also resulted in the seizure of distribution materials.
Specific details related to the quantity of drugs and ammunition seized were not initially released. However, OPP later confirmed that the estimated street value of the items seized was over $75,000.
A 32-year-old woman from St. Clair Township was charged with two counts of possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, transportation of ammunition in a careless manner, and failing to comply with a probation order.
A 25-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, and resisting a peace officer.
A 34-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with two counts of possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, transporting ammunition in a careless manner, and failing to comply with a probation order.
A 30-year-old Chatham man and a 24-year-old Windsor man were each charged with possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking.
OPP said three of the accused were held in custody for a bail hearing on February 16 and two were released with future court dates.
