Salad kits recalled due to possible Listeria contamination

Mexican-Style Street Corn Salad Kits from two different companies are being recalled due to possible Listeria contamination.

Taylor Fresh Canada Foods issued the recall on Wednesday due to an outbreak investigation in the United States.

The affected products include the 285 gram kit from President's Choice and the two-piece 335 gram kit from Taylor Farms with best-before dates up to and including February 19, 2024.

Both products were made using cheese from Rizo-López Foods which was recalled in the U.S. for an investigation into Listeria.

The salad kits have been distributed nationwide. The CFIA recommends that if you have one of these products at home, to throw it away or return it to the store where it was purchased. A food safety investigation is underway and could lead to the recall of other products.

Food contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick.

Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. If infected while pregnant, Listeria could lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth. In severe cases, it could lead to death.
