Chatham-Kent lifts burn ban

A burn ban in Chatham-Kent has officially been lifted, thanks to some much-needed rain and an improved air quality.

The municipality issued the burn ban last Thursday, saying that all open-air burn permits, both for agricultural and recreational fires (campfires), within Chatham-Kent were suspended.

"We would like to thank Chatham-Kents residents for their understanding," said Assistant Chief Adam Walters. "During the ban, there were only a couple of instances of non-compliance and once the fire crews spoke with property owners, they were happy to comply and extinguish the fire."

Residential Campfire and Agricultural Open Air Burn Permits are available online at ckfire.ca or by visiting any municipal service center.
