Pedestrian struck in crash east of Chatham, OPP investigating

One person is in the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 40 east of Chatham.

Ontario Provincial Police said they were called to the scene of the collision on Communication Road (Hwy. 40) near Park Avenue at 9:48 p.m. Thursday.

A section of the road was closed off temporarily Thursday night and early Friday morning for an investigation, but the road has since reopened.

OPP said the pedestrian who was hit by the vehicle was taken to a trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was not injured.

Police continue to investigate.
