Chatham man arrested for robbery

A Chatham man is facing charges of robbery, possession of stolen property, and resisting a peace officer.

Shortly after noon on Friday, Chatham-Kent police said that a man entered a business on Queen Street and tried to leave without paying for items he'd selected.

According to police, the suspect assaulted two employees who tried to stop him. No one was seriously injured.

The 28-year-old was located and arrested on St. Patrick Street, a short distance away from the scene.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested twice in one week

Days after he was released by police, a Chatham man was arrested for breaching court conditions.

The suspect was released from police custody on December 5, with several conditions. Two of the conditions stated that he was not allowed to communicate with a specific woman or go to her home.

Around 7 p.m. on December 8, police responded to a call for service at the woman’s home and found the man hiding under a bed.

A 37-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

Police searching for break-and-enter suspect(s)

Chatham-Kent police said that sometime between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. unknown suspect(s) entered a business on Canal Street East in Tilbury by prying open a locked door.
