Charges laid six months after deadly crash near Ridgetown

A Chatham woman has been charged in connection to a fatal crash near Ridgetown this summer.

Chatham-Kent police reported on Friday the 32-year-old woman has been charged with careless driving causing death and two counts of careless driving causing bodily harm.

Police have also now identified Barbara Bondy of Chatham as the 60-year-old who was killed in the collision on Victoria Road at Gosnell Line near Ridgetown on Saturday, June 17, 2023. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police said the 32-year-old accused was driving a vehicle with a 13-year-old passenger on Gosnell Line and the vehicle collided with another vehicle travelling northbound on Victoria Road being driven by Bondy.

A passenger in Bondy's vehicle was seriously injured and was transported to London via air ambulance, where she was listed in stable condition.

The 32-year-old woman and the 13-year-old passenger in the first vehicle both received non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, where they received medical attention.

Chatham-Kent police is sending its "deepest condolences" to the Bondy family.
