GoFundMe for family of Windsor man killed in weekend crash

The community is asked to help cover the funeral costs for a Windsor man who died in a crash near Walpole Island last weekend.

Kyle Paquette was in a vehicle that crashed into a creek on St. Clair Parkway between Dufferin Avenue and Stewart Line in Chatham Township.

The Ontario Provincial Police say efforts to revive the 27-year-old at the scene failed.

Three others were in the vehicle. A 23-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man from London, along with a 30-year-old Strathroy man, were taken to the hospital.

A friend of the Paquette family has set up a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $10,000.

Holly Sullivan wrote, "Kyle did not have anything prepared for his passing, as he was only 27 years old."

She said his mother, Cindy, applied for some grant funding for the service and is setting up a bank account for Paquette's young daughter, Astraea.

"Anything collected here will be used to cover whatever funeral costs the grant will not cover and anything his daughter needs in the future," Sullivan wrote.

Paquette's memorial service is on Thursday, December 14, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Cathedral in London. There is a visitation before the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation by the Chatham-Kent Traffic Unit.
