Veltman to be sentenced in January

The man convicted of killing four members of a Muslim family in London and severely injuring a fifth will be sentenced early in 2024.

During a brief court appearance via video in Windsor on Friday morning, Nathaniel Veltman learned that dates of January 4 and 5 have been set aside for sentencing submissions.

He was found guilty of four counts of first degree murder and one count of attempted murder in the pickup truck attack that killed four members of the Afzaal family in June 2021.

It's expected that several victim impact statements, including some from relatives of the Afzaal family, will be read into the record at the sentencing hearing.

Because of the first degree murder convictions, Veltman faces an automatic life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years.
