Police catch up with Erieau woman wanted for theft of a motor vehicle

The law has come calling for an 18-year-old Erieau woman who was wanted for allegedly attempting to steal a vehicle home in Howard Township.

Police said at around 10:30 p.m. on October 27, the woman attempted to steal a vehicle from a home on Gosnell Line in Howard Township but was stopped by the owners when the car stalled.

The woman fled the property before officers arrived, so they issued a warrant for her arrest.

Police said the woman was arrested on Wednesday afternoon by officers responding to a collision at Grand Avenue West and Courthouse Lane in Chatham.

The woman was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle and trespassing by night.

She was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Chatham-Kent police arrest another teen for assault

For a third time this week, a teen in Chatham has been arrested for assault at a local school.

Police said they were called to Chatham-Kent Secondary School on McNaughton Avenue East in Chatham at 1:12 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers said that a student had been followed and attacked without provocation. The attack continued until bystanders intervened.

The victim had suffered from injuries that required medical attention.

A 14-year-old Chatham youth turned herself in to the police at around 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

She has been charged with assault.

Man arrested for intimate partner violence

A 51-year-old Chatham is charged with assault after allegedly choking a woman during a disturbance in Chatham.

Police said they were called to an apartment on Trillium Village in Chatham just after 10 p.m. on Wednesday in response to a disturbance.

Officers learned the man had allegedly sat on the woman and proceeded to choke her until he was stopped by the woman's roommate.

The man was arrested and charged with assault.

He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date.

Chatham-Kent man arrested for failing to comply with court orders

 A 29-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing charges after failing to report to Chatham-Kent police under the Sex Offender Registry Act and Christopher’s Law.

Police said the man was located at the bandshell in Tecumseh Park just after midnight on Thursday while officers were conducting a property check.

Police said the man is registered under the Sex Offender Registry and is obligated to report annually to the police service. A warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to do so in October.

The 29-year-old was arrested, charged, and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Break and enter investigation in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police are looking to identify two individuals following a break and enter at the Lacroix Street Variety on Lacroix Street in Chatham on Tuesday.

Police said sometime overnight, two individuals were recorded on surveillance video taking several items from the store.
