A fire in Ridgetown has caused extensive damage to a home.
Chatham-Kent Fire said fire broke out in a single storey home at 13604 Golf Course Line in Ridgetown just after 7 a.m. on Friday.
Fire officials reported the fire caused $250,000 in damage and the cause was accidental.
Firefighters from Station #10 in Orford and Station #11 in Ridgetown responded to the blaze and reported heavy smoke coming from all sides of the house.
Chatham-Kent Fire spokesperson Whitney Burk said no one was hurt, adding that all occupants home at the time of the fire were able to get out safely and were assessed by paramedics for minor smoke inhalation.
The people displaced by the fire were assisted by Chatham-Kent police and Victim Services.
Burk said firefighters attacked the blaze from the rear of the home making an aggressive interior attack.
"The fire was knocked down quickly and firefighters continued to work on clearing smoke and checking for fire extension into the attic," said Burk.
