Chatham-Kent fire officials said firefighters were called to the scene at Bothwell Furniture on Main Street in Bothwell at 2:40 a.m. Thursday and were able to quickly put out the flames, which had made their way into the eves of the building.
The damage was estimated at $25,000.
Chatham-Kent fire inspectors are attending the scene and Chatham-Kent police are investigating.
Chatham-Kent council has approved two street rejuvenations and one sewer separation, costing roughly $8.5 million.
It currently has $11.9 million in reserves to spend on various projects, with plans to do so during the 2026-27 fiscal year.
