The Salvation Army of Chatham-Kent wants to make sure everyone is warm this winter.
It is currently accepting donations of new and gently used winter coats during its annual Operation Cover Up coat drive.
"You can drop them off at any Salvation Army location, Jiffy Lube in Chatham, Woodbridge Foam in Blenheim, and the Tilbury Help Centre," said Manager of Community and Family Services Nicole Shaw.
Donations will be accepted until Tuesday, October 31. All types of winter coats are needed, Shaw just asks that you wash them before donating.
"Keep in mind when you're donating that it's going to somebody, so that would be great if possible. We are generally in need of men's coats and plus-size coats, but women's coats and children's coats of course," she said.
Shaw estimates that around 400 coats were given out last year.
"Hundreds of coats easily," she said. "We were very fortunate, the community has always been supportive and great when it comes to coats, we had so many donations. We're hoping for that again this year."
Coats will then be handed out from Monday, November 6 to Friday, November 10.
"People can come to any Salvation Army Family Services in Chatham, Wallaceburg, Ridgetown or Blenheim to pick up a coupon," said Shaw. "Then they can take it to the distribution centre, that would be either at the church location on Orangewood Boulevard in Chatham or the Thrift Store locations either in Wallaceburg or Ridgetown."
Coupons and coats will also be handed out at the Tilbury Information and Help Centre.
