Sephora has opened in Chatham with a big splash and a big crowd.
Sephora, a "world-renowned" personal care and beauty supply retailer, opened at the Thames-Lea Plaza at Grand Avenue and Keil Drive on Friday morning to the delight of many in attendance.
Sephora Ontario Regional Director Theresa Morales-Noade told CK News Today the lineup at the Chatham store Friday morning was the biggest she has seen in some time.
"This is the biggest lineup I've seen all year. We've opened seven stores so far, we have eight to go this year and I've not seen a lineup likes this. So, really nice to see the good turnout from the Chatham community," said Morales-Noade.
Kristen Nead of Chatham said she has shopped at Sephora in other cities, adding she likes several programs and services they offer.
"I had no idea they do a dance in the morning. So, it was kind of cool to watch that this morning. If there's an event to go to, they'll actually do your makeup for you and having an expert do your makeup for you is nice," Nead said.
Morales-Noade said Sephora also wants to be involved in the community wherever possible and offers services to help new Canadians and has some products for men as well.
Chatham resident Penny Anderson said she likes the fact Sephora is community minded. "They're very inclusive. I do like that they're community minded and that they're inclusive. It does kind of go a long way," she said.
Morales-Noade said a market analysis told the company a Chatham store made sense because Chatham had high online sales and Sephora insiders were going out of town to get their products.
She also noted Sephora's goal is to open 200 stores across Canada and 108 have been opened so far.
