Argument over a missing water bottle turns violent

A Chatham man is facing an assault charge after he allegedly punched at someone during an argument over a water bottle.

Chatham-Kent police said they made the arrest after they were called to the residence in Chatham just before 10 p.m. Monday.

Officers said when they arrived, they learned that the accused had tried to punch the victim after they got into an argument over a missing water bottle. Police said the punch missed the mark, but still injured the victim.

A 21-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with one count of assault and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Chatham man accused of stealing from three stores

A 45-year-old man is facing half a dozen charges after police allegedly caught him carrying around stolen products from a trio of stores.

Police said they arrested the man while were investigating a call about a theft from a business on Communication Road in Blenheim on Monday.

Officers said when they found the man, they also found numerous stolen products from various stores and were later able to confirm that three businesses were targeted by the accused.

A 45-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with three counts of theft and three counts of possession of property obtained by crime.

He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Break-in on Cecile Street

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips after someone broke into a home on Cecile Street in Chatham.

Police said numerous items were taken during the break-in on Monday and they are asking anyone with information to contact Constable Craig Marentette at craigm@chatham-kent.ca.
