A local business in Chatham-Kent is gearing up to celebrate a remarkable milestone – 160 years of service to the community.
For six generations, the Ross family at Ross' Nurserymen has nurtured not only plants but also relationships with their customers since 1864.
William McKenzie Ross started the business with an orchard with greenhouses and the torch has been passed down from father to son since then.
"We can have been through the Great Depression, the pandemic, and it's still great to be around even after these economic challenges," Bill Ross Jr. told CK News Today. "We have shipped worldwide since the 1980s and cover a larger horticulture."
The business has adapted to changing times, incorporating modern techniques and practices to ensure its offerings remain relevant and valuable.
Ross said the balance between heritage and progress has been key to its enduring success.
To celebrate, Ross' Nurserymen will be hosting Mum Fest on September 23, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as an expression of appreciation towards clients.
The event will feature pony rides, various vendors, engaging kids' activities, and additional festivities to mark the celebration.
