A Chatham-Kent councillor will find out Monday evening if she will lose three months' pay after the municipality's Integrity Commissioner found she breached Council's Code of Conduct.
Integrity Commissioner Mary Ellen Bench made the recommendation saying Ward 4 Councillor Rhonda Jubenville made social media posts to intimidate and bully her critics in order to silence them regarding flag raisings.
A report going before CK Council said 90 days is the maximum penalty Jubenville can receive.
The Jubenville investigation cost taxpayers approximately $13,300.
Suspending a councillor’s remuneration for a three-month period equates to $8,515, according to Chatham-Kent's Director of Municipal Governance/Clerk Judy Smith.
Jubenville said she has already retained counsel and is considering legal action, adding the report infringes on her Charter of Rights and is filled with half-truths, untruths and subjective opinions.
