After 37 years in the pizza business, a Chatham pizzeria owner is retiring at the end of August.
Kamran Moradipour came to Canada in 1986 to go to university and literally built his business from the ground up by constructing the Original 2 Pizzas store on St. Clair Street in Chatham 28 years ago.
He told CK News Today serving the community has been a labour of love and thanks all of his customers and staff for making it a great journey.
"This business is like my baby. I grew with it and there's a lot of memories for me. I had fun working here," said Moradipour.
He said many of his employees have been with him for several years and he thinks of them as family.
"I love them all, every single one of them, and I really appreciate every single one of them, yes," he said.
The pizzeria will change hands and have new owners beginning August 31, 2023, but Moradipour said he'll be around to help, if the new owner needs it.
He immigrated from Iran three years after his brother came to Canada.
He said he can't play soccer anymore because of a knee injury and may take up golf in his retirement.
