Hydro One invited the public to an open house community event Wednesday at the Kent-Belgian-Dutch-Canadian Club.
This was Hydro One's third community open house to engage with the public about the St. Clair Transmission Line project.
The open house was held for the community to get the resources and answers for what will be transpiring in the area.
Hydro One displayed the 60-kilomentre route connecting a new 230-kilovolt transmission line between the Lambton Transformer Station and the Chatham Transformer Station for people to see visually.
Greg Scott, a Chatham-Kent farm landowner, had mixed feelings regarding the new transmission line project.
"I wanted to come in and know what exactly is going to happen with the new towers because there are already existing towers up there right now, and now they're going to build bigger towers, so they got to take those ones down, and strip down the middle of my field to accommodate what they got to do," he said.
Greg added that when Hydro One approached him about the project, he was concerned about the damage to his farmland.
"But they assured us that they would not damage anything, and if they did, they would pay for whatever happens," he said.
The St. Clair line is one of five projects Hydro One has planned for the region. Construction has started on the Chatham to Lakeshore transmission line.
It is anticipated this line will be in-service before the end of 2028.
