Chatham man arrested after stabbing at Pain Court Tractor Pull

A 36-year-old Chatham man is facing a handful of charges after someone was stabbed at a popular local summertime event over the weekend.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the Pain Court Tractor Pull just before 10 p.m. Friday for an assault investigation involving two men.

Police said their investigation showed that two men had been arguing when it escalated to the point where one of the men allegedly stabbed the other man.

Officers said the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, adding that the suspect reportedly fled the scene, but was later arrested by police on Erie Street in Merlin.

At that time, police also confirmed the suspect was bound by a release order with a condition not to possess any weapons.

A 36-year-old Chatham man was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to comply with a release order. He was later taken to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.
