A frightening scene was observed in Muirkirk Thursday evening after a wind turbine caught ablaze due to a lightning strike.
Witnesses reported seeing the large device on fire near Muirkirk Line sometime after 8 p.m.
A video submitted to CK News Today by Nick Baker shows the turbine already on fire as it was struck by lightning. You can see that video below.

Thunder could be heard rumbling in the background of the video as thick, black smoke plumed into the sky above and fiery pieces of the wind turbine fell to the ground below.
Hydro One is reporting a small power outage in the area nearby. It stated less than 20 customers are impacted due to the outage.
Officials with Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue said crews responded to the scene of the fire at 20275 Duart Road. Firefighters were able to secure the area and no injuries have been reported.
