Chatham-Kent teen arrested for assault

A 16-year-old Chatham-Kent youth is facing an assault charge after a verbal argument took a violent turn Monday morning.

Chatham-Kent police said they arrested the teen after officers were called to investigate an alleged assault on Centre Street in Chatham shortly before 10:30 a.m. Monday.

Police said they learned two youths had been arguing when things got physical.

The teen who was charged with assault was later released with conditions and a future court date.

CK woman arrested and charged after disturbance in Blenheim

A 26-year-old Chatham-Kent woman is facing a pair of charges after she allegedly showed up uninvited at an address she wasn't supposed to be visiting.

Police said they found the woman Monday afternoon while they were responding to a disturbance call on Regent Street in Blenheim.

Officers said they learned the woman had allegedly entered the home uninvited and started arguing with the people inside.

Police also confirmed that the woman was under a court order not to go to that specific address, so she was arrested and charged with violating her release conditions and being unlawfully in a dwelling.

She was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Banned driver slapped with drunk driving charge

Chatham-Kent police are crediting a concerned citizen with helping them to pull a banned driver off the road, again.

Police said they pulled the driver over on Bear Line Road in Dover Township at around 2:20 p.m. Monday while they were responding to a traffic complaint.

The officer who was carrying out the traffic stop believed the man was driving while impaired, so he was arrested.

The officer also allegedly confirmed that the man's driver's license was suspended and that he was banned from driving.

The 65-year-old Dover Centre man was taken back to police headquarters for breath tests and he was later charged with six counts of driving while banned along with one count each of impaired driving and driving under suspension.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date, but his vehicle was towed and was set to be impounded for 45 days.
