Assault charges laid against woman in domestic disturbance

A 26-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with assault and mischief after a dispute at a residence on Harvey Street.

The call came in Saturday just after 1:30 p.m. Police say a woman had punched and kicked a man several times. She also allegedly hurled a flower pot at the man's chest and threw a planter box full of flowers down the stairs.

Police did not specify who the man was in relation to the suspect woman, but described the incident as a "domestic dispute."

Officers charged the woman with two counts of assault, assault with a weapon, and mischief under $5,000. She was released from custody on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Impaired driver arrested after pickup truck rollover crash

Police attended a single vehicle collision on Zone Centre Line which led to impaired driving charges being laid against a Bothwell man.

Officers responded to the crash shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday. Police said a man driving a pickup truck lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over, hitting a gas line and hydro pole.

Through investigation, police reportedly found reason to believe the driver was impaired. The 42-year-old man was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where he did in fact register over the legal limit of alcohol.

The suspect is accused of operation while impaired. He was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

Landlord dispute turns violent

An altercation between a resident and his landlord resulted in assault charges being laid against one man.

The incident happened Saturday around 11 a.m. Police arrived to an address in Blenheim where it was learned that a landlord and tenant had engaged in a dispute. One of the involved men, 61, reportedly swung a piece of workout equipment at the other.

A 61-year-old Blenheim man is accused of assault with a weapon. Officers took the man into custody but later released him on an undertaking with conditions and a court date.
