A new fair is stepping in as a temporary solution after an annual summer event was called off due to a lack of ride operators.
The Chatham-Kent Fair will act as a "one-off" event to replace the Chatham-Kent Kinsmen Fair this year, which announced its cancellation last Thursday.
“The Chatham Kinsmen has done amazing work over the past few decades providing fair services for our community," said Organizer Chris Glassford. "When reading that the Chatham Fair was in jeopardy, I knew we had to step up and help in a big way.”
Planning is still in the early stages, but Glassford said the fair will feature festival, fair, and circus elements.
"Organizers intend to honour the Kinsmen throughout the event and intend to donate following the event to the club," said Glassford. "The Chatham Kinsmen have done amazing work over the past few decades providing the fair and other services for our community. When reading that the Chatham Fair was in jeopardy, I knew we had to step up and help in a big way.”
An official date has not been set, but organizers are hoping local businesses will step up and sponsor key aspects to help make the event more enjoyable and affordable for the community.
More details will be announced at a later date.
