A 40-year-old Chatham man is facing child luring charges after allegedly attempting to solicit explicit images from a teenage girl through fake social media accounts.
Police said in October of last year, the Chatham-Kent police internet child exploitation unit received a complaint about the man attempting to receive those images.
According to police, it was believed that the man resided in Chatham-Kent due to his knowledge of the area.
Through various investigative techniques, he was identified and arrested.
The 40-year-old man was arrested last week and charged with luring a child to make child pornography and luring a child to commit sexual interference.
He was transported to police headquarters and later released with multiple conditions and a court date.
Police said no further information will be released to protect the victim’s identity as the investigation is ongoing.
