Blenheim's Abby Stonehouse makes Canada’s U18 team

Blenheim’s Abby Stonehouse will be skating with Hockey Canada’s U-18 women’s team against Team USA after making the Canadian roster.

The three-game series against the United States will take place from August 17 to August 20 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.

Stonehouse, who played for the London Devilettes in the Ontario Women's Hockey League (U22) last season, accumulated 12 goals and 22 points in 24 games.

A total of 142 players were invited to attend selection camps as part of the BFL National Women’s Program Summer Showcase, which involved on-and off-ice training, classroom sessions, and fitness testing.

Stonehouse is one of 23 players who were chosen from the selection camp in Alberta from August 3 to August 14 and is also one of nine players on the roster who were born in 2006, with the remaining players born in 2005.

She will be playing alongside two other London Devilettes this month including Emmalee Pais and Kiera Hurry.

The first game against Team USA will take place on Wednesday, August 17 at 3:30 p.m.
