Canadian soldiers will be training in Chatham-Kent this weekend.
The Canadian Armed Forces said Army Reserve soldiers will be sharpening and testing their skills in and around Cedar Springs, just southwest of Blenheim.
The Department of National Defence (DND) said activities will include a road march with military equipment, including unloaded weapons. The march will take place around residential areas that are in close proximity to the Cedar Springs Range Training Area (rifle range), according to Public Affairs Officer Naval Lieutenant Andrew McLaughlin.
McLaughlin said the public may see military vehicles and personnel participating in the exercise with unloaded weapons, but no ammunition will be carried outside the confines of the rifle range.
"Firing of ammunition will exclusively take place within the confines of [the rifle range]," he said. "This important exercise is being conducted in order to prepare Canadian Army Reserve members to operate in hot weather conditions."
The training will occur from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
The DND said all soldiers participating will be practicing proper health protection measures as required.
"All measures are being taken to ensure minimum inconvenience to those in the area, although certain areas may be inaccessible during the exercise dates. Members of the public are asked to take extra caution when approaching military vehicles and are thanked in advance for their understanding and co-operation," McLaughlin said.
