Santa Claus is coming to Wallaceburg Saturday

Jolly Old St. Nick will be riding his sleigh into Wallaceburg this weekend.

Parents looking to get their children's photo taken with Santa Claus will have a chance to do so on Saturday at Civic Square Park.

Santa in the Park will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 10.*

"For the last few years, I have been going around house to house for anyone who wanted a visit from Santa," said David Wall, a local resident of Wallaceburg. "That took a long time to do that and I couldn't see many kids."

The event is free to the public but Wall said his family will be collecting donations for the Wallaceburg Salvation Army.

"All we're asking is for a small donation, whether it be a cash donation or canned goods," said Wall. "Things are getting hard - gas prices, rent prices. There's a lot of people depending on these food banks and I am just doing my best to help out."

Civic Square Park is located at 779 Dufferin Avenue.

"We just want to hand out candy canes to the kids and let them get their photo taken with Santa," said Wall. "I'm hoping to do this every single year."

*A previous version of this story said Santa would also be in the park on December 17, but that event has been cancelled
