Lancers win Chatham Sports Hall of Fame basketball tournament

There is no place like home for the Ursuline College Lancers' senior boys' basketball team.

But the next best place might be the gym at Chatham-Kent Secondary School.

That's where the Lancers won the annual Chatham Sports Hall of Fame Sr. Boys' Basketball tournament in Chatham over the weekend, beating Windsor Holy Names by a score of 82-75 on Saturday in the championship game. It's the first time the tournament was held since the pandemic was declared in 2020.

Caleb Roberts from UCC was the tournament MVP and Jaxen Baker from UCC was named as a tournament All Star.

The tournament, organized by the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame, was played at UCC and Chatham-Kent Secondary School on Friday and Saturday with 12 teams from London, St. Thomas, Sarnia, Chatham-Kent, Belle River, and Windsor all taking part.

The event was supported by Chatham-Kent Ready Mix, Dajcor Inc., Milwaukee Tools-Canada, and RBC Wealth Management, which helped to raise $1,000 for the tournament organizers to cover the cost of the awards (plaques, medals, etc.) and other expenses.
