Wallaceburg nativity scene damaged by spray paint

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips after someone spray painted the nativity scene at a church in Wallaceburg over the weekend.

Police said it's believed the mischief at St. James Anglican Church on James Street took place overnight Saturday or early Sunday morning.

Officers were called to the scene just before noon on Sunday and said there are currently no suspects in the case.

Police looking for stolen pickup truck

Chatham-Kent police are also asking for tips from the public as they try to track down a white 2020 Ford F150 that was reported stolen from a residence on Victoria Avenue in Chatham.

Police said it was reported stolen Sunday morning and was last seen with an aluminum kayak rack attached to the box.

Domestic complaint leads to arrest

A 26-year-old man is facing several charges -- including personating an officer -- in connection with a domestic complaint in Blenheim.

Police said they arrested the man after they were called to a residence on Chatham Street South Sunday morning.

The accused was charged with criminal harassment, uttering threats, mischief, forcible confinement, and personating a police officer.

He was taken to police headquarters and was later released with a future court date.

Man arrested after domestic break-in, assault

A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly broke into a residence in Wallaceburg and assaulted the female homeowner.

Police said officers were called to the residence on Westcourt Boulevard Sunday afternoon and learned that a man who had allegedly broken in and assaulted the homeowner also stole some property.

He took off before police arrived.

Police said they found him when they were called back to Westcourt Boulevard Sunday night when the man was seen in that area again.

The accused was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions and one count of break and enter to commit robbery.

He was taken into police custody and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Impaired driver arrested after crash in Chatham

A 22-year-old man is facing an impaired driving charge after police were called to investigate a crash in the area of Eugenie Street in Chatham early Monday morning.

Police said their investigation led them to believe the driver was impaired by alcohol, so they arrested him.

He allegedly refused to comply with a demand for breath samples, though, and as a result, he was charged with impaired driving and refusing to comply with a breath demand.

He was held in custody until he sobered up and then released with a future court date.

Wanted man arrested in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent police can cross another name off of their wanted list.

Police said an officer on general patrol in the area of University Avenue in Wallaceburg caught up with a man who was wanted on several warrants for theft and possession offences.

The accused was arrested on the warrants and taken back to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.
