Man arrested for threatening to burn someone's house down

A 33-year-old Walpole Island man has been arrested after police were called to investigate a disturbance on Bridge Street in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the area on Bridge Street in Wallaceburg just after 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Officers said their investigation showed that a man was knocking on a home when he was confronted by the homeowner's neighbours.

At that time, the neighbours got into an argument with the man and he allegedly threatened to burn down their house.

The accused was later arrested on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Wanted Toronto man turns up in Chatham-Kent

A 39-year-old Toronto man who was wanted in his hometown has been returned there after he was found sitting outside of someone's house in Chatham Township.

Chatham-Kent police said they found him while they were following up on a report a suspicious person who was sitting near the mailbox of a residence on Longwoods Road.

The homeowner reportedly told the man to leave, but he refused to go.

When police showed up, they learned he had been ordered to stay within the City of Toronto and was also wanted on an outstanding warrant by the Toronto Police Service.

He was later handed over to police in Toronto.

Blenheim man arrested for impaired driving

A 44-year-old Blenheim man is facing an impaired driving charge after he was allegedly spotted swerving between lanes and driving on the shoulder of the road late Tuesday night.

Police said they received that report just after 11 p.m. Tuesday for a vehicle heading south on Charing Cross road.

Officers managed to track down the vehicle and pulled it over.

Police believed the driver was impaired, so they conducted a field sobriety test and later took the man back to police headquarters for further testing.

He was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Suspect sought in connection to a theft investigation

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to identify a woman believed to be involved in a theft that occurred on July 23, 2022, at the Superstore on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
