Ottawa man charged after failing to remain at collision
A 24-year-old man from Ottawa is facing several charges after failing to remain at the site of a collision in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent police responded to the collision in the area of Garden Path and Balmoral Road Saturday night.
Responding officers found the vehicle a short distance away on the Baldoon Road.
Police said the driver showed signs of being impaired and was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance.
The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests but while in the back of the cruiser, the man began spitting in the back seat.
Police said the man blew nearly twice the legal limit.
The 24-year-old was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration 80 plus, and mischief under $5,000.
He was additionally charged under the Highway Traffic Act for fail to remain, fail to give required information, and operating a motor vehicle with no insurance.
He has been released from custody pending a future court date of July 8, 2022.

Traffic stop leads to impaired charges
A 70-year-old Wallaceburg man spent some time sobering up in police custody after being seen swerving within the a lane on Ashton Avenue.
The driver was believed to be impaired and was transported to police headquarters where he blew more than double the legal limit.
The 70-year-old was charged with operation while impaired, operation with a blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.
He has been released from custody pending a future court date of July 8 th , 2022.
