Kinsmen Fair returns with carnival, dozens of vendors

An annual summer tradition is back in Chatham.

The Kinsmen Fair kicks off Thursday at 4 p.m. at Memorial Arena on Tweedsmuir Avenue West and runs until Sunday at 4 p.m.

"We have vendors coming in, and there's have one 50 vendors inside the arena," said Bob Christie with the Chatham Kinsmen Club. "We have the carnival there, World's Finest is coming in with some nice rides for us. Then we got Elmer The Safety Elephant contest for kids, and a colouring contest."

Zoo2You will also be there on Saturday and Sunday, and admission to the fair is free.

"You can just come in and walk around. You don't have to pay anything," said Christie. "Come and get some cotton candy and a hot dog, and come and say hi to the Kinsmen guys."

Advance tickets for the rides can be purchased online here.

Christie added that all the money raised stays in Chatham-Kent.

"We put money back into minor sports, and we get into a lot of things there and help as people as much as we can," said Christie.

This is the 75th year of the Fair. It was run by the Chatham Jaycees for 60 years before it was taken over by the Kinsmen Club.

The fair will be open from 4-11 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Sunday.
