Several daytime cooling centres are opening their doors across Chatham-Kent on Wednesday for anyone who is looking to escape the heat.
Environment Canada issued a heat warning for Chatham-Kent on Tuesday and added a special air quality statement Wednesday morning, warning of high levels of air pollution brought on by the hot and sunny conditions.
Municipal offices in Blenheim, Chatham, Ridgetown, Tilbury, and Wallaceburg, will offer space for people to stop in, sit, have a drink of water, and cool off during regular business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You can find those locations by clicking here.
Employment and Social Services at 435 Grand Avenue West in Chatham and Hope Haven on Wellington Street West in Chatham are both offering the same service on Wednesday.
In Wallaceburg, the James Street Drop In Centre will be open from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and anyone who needs transportation to get there can contact the Homeless Response Line at 519-354-6628.
