Residents, snake uninjured in Chatham fire

No injuries are being reported following an apartment fire in Chatham on Sunday night.

Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services said all of the tenants and a 5-foot Python Snake at a four-unit building at 70 Timmins Crescent escaped without injury after the fire began just after 9:30 p.m on Sunday. The snake was rescued safely by firefighters.

The fire was contained to the one unit, according to CK Fire.

Chatham-Kent police are holding the scene and the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called to assist with the investigation.

No other details, including the cause, origin, and estimated damage are being released at this time.
