Crash investigation leads to impaired driving charge

A 20-year-old man is facing an impaired driving charge after he allegedly crashed a vehicle into a utility pole in Chatham.

Police said they responded to the scene around 5:45 a.m. Saturday.

The man was arrested and after a breath analysis, police found the driver had a blood-alcohol level exceeding the legal limit.

He was later released from custody with a future court date.

Bail violation leads to man's arrest

 A 51-year-old man found himself in custody after being pulled over by Chatham-Kent police late Friday night.

Police said the man, who was known to be under house arrest, was spotted driving a vehicle in Chatham around 10:40 p.m. and didn't appear to have his bail surety with him.

After being pulled over, police said the man was arrested for failing to comply with a release order and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

According to Chatham-Kent police, the victim was walking around King Street East in Chatham when she was approached by a woman she didn't know and struck in the face.
