Maroons fall to Flyers in Western Conference Final opener

The Chatham Maroons dropped game one of the GOJHL's Western Conference Final, falling 3-1 to the Leamington Flyers.

Adam Jeffery opened the scoring with a goal at 15:33 in the first period to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead.

After a scoreless second period, the Maroons tied it up with a goal from Cameron Welch at 13:09 in the third. Colin Whaley and Lucas Fancy assisted on the goal.

Connor MacPherson gave Leamington the lead again by scoring with under two minutes left in regulation before teammate Gabe Piccolo added an empty netter to make it 3-1.

The Flyers lead the series 1-0. Game two is set for Sunday afternoon in Chatham at Memorial Arena. Puck drop is 3 p.m.
