CKHA opens outdoor visiting area

As of Friday, the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is offering an outdoor visiting space for patients and families.

Both the Chatham and Wallaceburg sites will offer outdoor visiting from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day of the week for eligible patients on all inpatient units, weather permitting.

"The care team in collaboration with the patient and care partner(s) will determine if the patient is safe to participate in outdoor visits," CKHA officials said through a media release. "Patients who are permitted outdoor visiting will be accompanied to and from the outdoor visiting space by their care partner and can have additional visitors outdoors at that time."

Visitors, care partners and patients will be asked to remain masked and distanced during their visit and to refrain from consuming food and drink.

Meanwhile, the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance announced on Thursday that a COVID-19 outbreak within the Medicine B Unit at the Chatham site has been declared over by the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit. The outbreak was declared on March 28.

The hospital's Complex Continuing Care Unit on the 4th floor remains in active outbreak.
