A Kitchener man is the latest to face charges in connection with the 2021 murder of a Windsor man on Walpole Island.
The 20-year-old man, identified by Ontario Provincial Police as Turuk Thomas, was picked up at a police detachment in Sault Ste. Marie by officers from the Lambton County Crime Unit. Thomas is charged with first-degree murder.
Thomas is the eighth person to be charged in the homicide of Windsor resident Oyebode Oyenuga, whose remains were found on Walpole Island First Nation on March 17, 2021. Oyenuga was reported missing the month before.
Since then, police have charged 31-year-old Rolf Rodley Agard and 28-year-old Saccaara Johnson of Windsor, 23-year-old Dejour Millington of Toronto, 40-year-old Dwayne Jahton Blair, and 21-year-old Nashaye Walker with first-degree murder. A Kitchener man, 20-year-old Zy’Shaun Lawrence, also faces accessory after the fact to murder and indignity to a dead body counts. Also, 36-year-old Jeffery Drew Bliss has been charged with trafficking a firearm, weapon, device or ammunition.

None of the charges against the suspects have been proven in court.
