OPP investigating serious collision

Essex County Road 14 is closed between Kent Road 1 and Highway 77 after a collision involving two vehicles.

Emergency services responded to the crash in Leamington around 8:45 a.m. Monday.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police, a minivan was travelling southbound on Essex County Road 37 and failed to stop a stop sign. It struck a westbound SUV carrying four occupants.

The driver of the minivan had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. All four occupants in the SUV were also taken to the hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious.

The road will stay closed as police investigate.
