A new automotive manufacturing plant is setting up shop somewhere in Chatham and it is bringing dozens of new jobs to the area.
President of Canadian Executive Search Group Kyle Pinsonneault, the company recruiting for the new plant, said the "new massive plant" will open in Chatham in November and is looking to hire 54 full time production workers now and another 56 employees soon. The factory will make small parts for vehicles by utilizing various assembly, robotics, welding, machining, quality and/or other techniques.
Pinsonneault said the training will start as soon as possible in St. Thomas. He said trainees can take a free shuttle or drive to St. Thomas.
Pay starts at $18.55 per hour on days/afternoons and $19.55 an hour on midnights.
"Please let us know when applying what option or transportation you will be taking," said Pinsonneault in a post on social media. "We will have 110 openings to fill soon. Be the first 54 to be hired in the newest tier 1 automotive plant coming to Chatham."
Mayor Darrin Canniff told CK Mornings with Chris, Jenn, and Matt on 94.3 CKSY on Wednesday that an announcement with more details is definitely coming soon, but he can't say anymore until then because doesn't want to steal the company's thunder when that day comes.
"In this particular case where there's smoke, there's fire. The announcement will be coming. I'd love to tell you more about it but I'm not supposed to tell you anything. It's the company, I really want to defer to them to announce it and talk about it. It's been coming for while now and I've been pretty excited," said Canniff. "When I allude there's other things coming, this is one of them. I'm excited for when the company steps up and talks more about their plans and it's going to be really good for Chatham-Kent."
